A pan-African story
In parts of West Africa, the craft of making shea butter has passed from mother to daughter for generations. A knowledge of plants, texture, and care, carried forward.
On shea’s heritage / Smithsonian FolklifeOur name comes from Adansonia digitata, the African baobab tree, a symbol of life, connection, and lasting memories.
ADANSA began in Stellenbosch, South Africa, in October 2026, where our first jars were created as wedding favors. We wanted our guests to take home more than a gift. We wanted them to carry a feeling.
The warmth, the laughter, the love. A moment they could revisit through their senses, long after the celebration ended.
And now, we want to share that feeling with the world. Crafted with ingredients sourced exclusively from across Africa, every jar is a little piece of a moment worth remembering.
ADANSA. Nostalgia in a jar.
Five ingredients. The whole list.
